Funeral Fun and Tyler at Two

Posted in Family, Quotes  by ministerandy on February 23rd, 2007

We had a good funeral yesterday for sweet lady who attended our church. Dad was up for the first time since breaking his leg and did the main part of the service . I did the graveside part of the service. Everything went well until I tried to read 1 Corinthians 15:53 “For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.” It came out, “This mortal body must put on immorality.” Boy can a “t” make a big difference. You know how they say it is not proper to laugh at funerals, well someone couldn’t help it.

In other news: Tyler has started talking much better now, and lately he has been saying, “Ready to go home?, going home?” This is odd, because we are usually home when he says it. So we asked, “Where is home Tyler?” To which he replied, “Church daddy!” When you are a pastor’s kid it may sometimes feel this way, that you are at church more than home. However, this is one of those lessons learned by practice, not preaching, that I am so thankful for from my childhood. Church was our priority. It was our family. It was our home in many ways. Now I want to pass that on as well. There is something greater than our family and our home in this world, the church.

So in honor of Tyler’s quote here is Friday’s Foto:

My creation

This was taken after swim lessons with my camera phone.   And then doctored with Gimp.

A pastor friend, who also has a young daughter, sent me this video. We have decided to get vehicles from Suburban before our daughters are allowed to date.

Long live the Trunk Monkey!

Prayers of an Indiana Boy

Posted in Family  by ministerandy on February 7th, 2007

Tyler has begun wanting to pray for meals. Usually the prayers include something they are thankful for and a need from the church. I have become a little concerned about Tyler lately. The problem could be one of two things: his mother is a buckeye or the recent Super Bowl run by the Colts. Regardless, he now wants to give thanks for football every time he prays. I thought little boys from Indiana were only supposed to give thanks for basketball!

Christmas Review

Posted in Family  by ministerandy on December 29th, 2006

For Christmas this year we gave our son a gun, swords (Playmobil Viking Ship), and a motorcycle. We gave our girls Prairie Bonnets, Dolls and an oven. How blue and pink is that? Funny thing is everyone was thrilled. We wrapped up the front room with the tree and presents and the kids had to burst through the wall of wrapping paper. Notice the Cat in picture two attacking Lauren! The last picture was Tyler watching the Christmas snow.
Here are a few Pictures:

Other News: This Sunday evening we will be watching a video on the life of George Muller. I previewed it this week and it is well done and a real challenge to our faith and whether or not we take God at his Word. His life was simple and his faith was simple, but simple does not mean uneducated or weak. He lived according to the promises of God and by prayer. I would encourage everyone from Edgewood to make it a point to be there, and everyone who is not from Edgewood to pick up a biography or the video.

Here a Few Recent Quotes from the Children

Posted in Family  by ministerandy on December 16th, 2006

Tyler is learning to become somewhat of a ham at the dinner table. He loves to make us laugh and do whatever he can beyond eating. The other day he was messing around and we finally quit paying attention. Then he turns to Heather and says, “Happy Birfday Mommy.” (It was not her birthday, but we have been wrapping a lot of gifts for Christmas lately). Then, in the greatest sincerity, he handed her a carrot he had wrapped up in his napkin. Heather said it may have been the best birthday gift she has ever received.

Tonight during our devotions we read about John the Baptist. After we are done we usually ask a few questions just to make sure the children payed attention. I asked Lauren what John was not allowed to drink. She replied:

“Wine and sensitive water.”
Boy are we at a fun stage right now as a family. I just wish I knew what sensitive water was!

The Great Pumpkin Rides Again

Posted in Family  by ministerandy on November 1st, 2006

We had a great time as a family last night “Trick or Treating“. The girls did great and enjoyed going around Lapel and seeing all of Kara’s friends from school. They dressed up like butterflies and had matching costumes for their Bitty Baby Dolls. Tyler was supposed to go dressed as a fireman, but wouldn’t wear his costume because he wanted his Reggie Miller uniform. I came home and asked if he wanted a Basketball mask to wear. He said yes. Heather was sure he would not wear it, because he had refused to wear the fireman hat. The little guy wore the basketball on his head almost the entire night. He really got into the evening. He wanted to walk instead of being carried, and he even tried to hand out his candy to the lady at the fifth house we visited.
