One of the deep questions asked at Edgewood during this time of year is, “What exactly are “festive” snacks and sandwiches?” For years we have been asked to bring them to Christmas fellowship gatherings, and have done our best to prepare them. However, is it possible we have been misled in our practice throughout the decades of festive celebrations? For many years I have mistakenly believed festive snacks to simply be pink meat sandwiches with the crust removed. After much study it is time to clear up this error. What exactly are “festive” snacks?
Upon selecting our first site in our Google search upon the subject, the blog Thimble (what more authoritative, festive snack voice could there be!) apparently and enthusiastically suggests a dish called Tapanade which seems to us to be a delightful resemblance of canned cat food upon first impression. However, there is more, if one wants to properly prepare a “festive” food, one must wear the proper apron…

Upon furthur seeking, we found a result that may be a bit less daunting to some: simply decorate a bowl of chips and dip by setting a few red and green 7Up bottles next to it.
As always, we will be looking forward to the Sunday festive fellowship time!

Edgewood is now streaming its services live. We hope this ministry will be helpful for shut-ins, those down sick or with sick children, our firefighters, and a variety of others. There is also an on demand feature that allows you to play the other Sunday services anytime you want.
The picture shows Stuart Townend on the left and Keith Getty on the right. Stuart has an upcoming album on which he has re-recorded “Every Promise.” For those of you at Edgewood, I am sure this is a hymn we will be learning at some point this year. Jump over to the Getty’s website and familiarize yourself with it. Here are a few quotes about the song “Every Promise”.
Every Promise of your word is a song that reminds us of the rich promises in God’s word which are more than sufficient for our every circumstance.
This can be used as a congregational song or as an answer and response, where the congregation simply sing - ‘and I stand on every promise of Your word’
Paul Tripp on Every Promise
Why hope in the Word? Why stand on its every promise? Why heed its guidance and reach out for its grace? The answer is simple, it is the only place where life can be found. There is no firmer place to stand. There is no more reliable place of hope. There is no more trustworthy place of comfort. The story, the mirror, the scalpel, the map, the drink, the key, and the portrait all call me to come and rest again and hope again and stand again at the only place where life, real life, eternal can life be found.

We had a great year this year at our Annual Youth Retreat. Thanks to all who helped out. Also, I really enjoyed working with and spending time with all the teens that were there.

Jeremy Pierre was the speaker and his messages really seemed to hit home with all the teens. The picture above was has the theme and 3 sermon subjects on it. The sermons from this years Winter Youth Retreat are now available for free. Download them here.

Any information on the whereabouts of these criminals will be greatly appreciated. And if I were them, I would learn to be light sleepers!

We are working this afternoon, trying to add a few new hymns/songs to what we sing here at Edgewood. This hymn was written for use with the observance of the Lord’s Supper. It is an excellent tune and has wonderful words. Hopefully we will use it sometime later in the year.

The Big Red Machine from Edgewood (9-1) will face off against the only team to beat them this year, Parkview Nazarene! Rumor has it that Parkview has only lost one game in 6 years in this league. Be there Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 PM at Victory Field between 8th street and 10th street off Rangline Road, at Parview Nazarene Church. We need that 11th man so Pack the Bleacher (there is only one so you may want lawn chairs)
