At Lunch on Monday, Heather and Tyler were talking about Christ’s ascension to Heaven, Tyler brought it up. Heather then went on to explain how great this is for us because he is sitting at the right hand of God and He is praying for us, interceding. She explained that Jesus is praying for mommy and can pray for Tyler. Tyler quickly replied, “He is praying for Daddy!”
Wow! This made me thankful and encouraged on several levels. I am thankful for my wife who loves Christ so much and teaches our children about Him in ways that are understood so simply. I am thankful for my son who loves his daddy. Most of all I was encouraged by that fact that Jesus loves me and is praying for me. What more do I need? The Son of God, is at the right hand of God, praying for exactly what I need.
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.
It is not just that Jesus is a sympathetic or empathetic ear and will listen to us and understand, but more, He is taking it to His Father, the God of all the Universe, making requests on our behalf.
Romans 8
33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
