Hey Andy,

Psalm 61:1-2 has been Tracey's and I's theme verse for our family for about 3 years now. When we were going over to Ethiopia it kept us anchored in the Lord, and took away worries many times (especially when your reading headlines about car bombings in the city your going to be staying at!). The Campbell family, knowing we were using that as our 'anchor' passage as we were going through the adoption thing, was kind enough to put those verses to music and create a song for us. I'll bring you a copy sometime soon so you can listen to the entire Campbell family singing "God is our Refuge". It's probably better than the Getty/Townend version! :)

Wonderful point steve.

The truth that I keep going back to is what does it mean that Christ is My Rock, my fortress? For many they do not connect obedience to that. It is just a feeling. Christ being our fortress calls us to quiet, still obedience in the midst of difficult circumstances in the midst of life. That is our rest. Calm obedience to a sure God. What hope! He will reward with victory.

Hey Andy.
Just wanted you to know I was in the family life center hearing your challenge to us from Ps.62, What really grabbed my attention last night is in verse 2 where the psalmist talks about God being his rock, salivation and fortress. I was thinking about this verse this morning and I kept going back to the example of Christ gave about building our house on the rock instead of the sand, and having Jesus himself being the true and only foundation and when the cares and disappointment of this world and just trials themselves come pounding on the shores of our life we will not loose heart because of the foundation we are built upon. I know its hard for me not to dwell on my circumstances in life but I need to get my eyes off them and not let them rule my life but remember in who's word, and in who's work ( Christ upon the cross taking my punishment), I rest and lay a hold of because of Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone and the only and true foundation, the rock, my fortress and my salvation.
Thanks for the encouragement from Psalm 62
