Friday is for Fotos: State Fair Edition
All of these were taken with a camera phone, so the quality is poor. The first picture is a sign hanging in the bathroom at the fair in Madison County. I just could not pass that one up. The other two pictures are of teenagers from our church working in the Dairy Bar at the State Fair yesterday. It was a long day, but I had a lot of fun working with these teens serving ice cream. I was proud of them and how hard they worked.
There is a downside to working at the Dairy Bar, you may miss something exciting going on in the Midway! One example to top off this fair edition, if a picture is worth a thousand words, the words of this article conjure up thousands of pictures in my head.
Nothing says romance like an elephant ear, deep fried everything, the smell of animals, and a midway aisle! Yee-Haw. What it does not mention was that the bride threw a bouquet of corn after the reception in the livestock barn. I am joking, I know nothing more of this than the article.

Andy,
I appreciate You and Heather going with the teens and giving them the support they needed. I heard from both of my kids how busy and draining the day was. Now that you’ve experienced it and know what it takes to complete it, I’m sure there will be more organization and hopefully more people. ( I don’t mean that you were not organized, but never having done it before, you couldn’t have anticipated what you would get into). You may even consider having (2) completely different groups that work 6 hours each next year? I’m glad my girls participated and even though it may be a hard sell to get them back next year, it will help our fees for the ski retreat this year. Thanks for looking for creative ways to help us parents finance positive events for our kids to participate in.
Is that Tyler in the background of the “Boots” sign? It looks like his signature pose.

Mark,
That is Ty in the Background. He is pulling of some superhero move.
I really enjoyed working with the teens and yes we will know how to better do things next year. I hope some that went this year will go back. We will definitely take more people next year, 12-16 will probably be needed. Maybe we can get parents and teens to go and do shifts. We all worked hard, but it was fun being together and watching how each worked and interacted.
