Correction On Martyrs
Posted in Current Events by ministerandy on May 3rd, 2007
It appears that much of the torture was fabricated. I apologize. I had received my information from a solid source, but it appears to be wrong. However, the three men were truly murdered as they held a Bible study for 5 other men. Here is a letter from the church in Turkey. And then a second correction letter.

Thanks for the correction, although for me, and I’m sure everyone else, whether they were stabbed 1,4 or 156 times matters not. These men cause me to want to live a better christian life. They are to be admired, and we should tell our children about them in a way that puts them up as role models. While the rest of the world is worrying about Britney Spears latest fiasco, or what Rosie O’donnell’s latest stupid comment is, christians are laying down their lives for Jesus everyday. Sure helps keep things in perspective when you think on these things. Just think, Paris Hilton getting 45 days in jail for some law-breaking fiasco gets probably an hour or two of airtime each day for a couple of weeks, while christians getting murdered for their faith gets about 20 seconds on a christian television station or two. I’ll stop by some of these ‘hollywood gossip’ programs for a couple minutes occasionally and I just can’t believe how concerned people are about what the hollywood celebrities are doing. Some people hang on every detail. Is it really news that so and so was seen shopping at so and so? ARRRRGGHHHHH!
Am I ranting?
sorry,

Todd,
You are right, the amount of the torture or suffering is not the issue. The Gospel is great and those that stand for it stand in that greatness. These men have died for what matters most. I am thankful for them.
I do not mean in any way to take away from what occurred, but only wanted the story to be correct.

I hope I didn’t come across that I thought you were trying to make it ‘less’ somehow. I just simply took the opportunity to praise them for their courage and to rant about the state of our ’spoildness’ here in the States. Every time I listen to talk radio on the way to work and back all I hear about is Rosie, Alec, Paris, Don Imus, Political agendas etc…. looks like its time to get back to downloading more Piper messages for the mp3 player.. (and maybe even an EBC or two!)
